Jane-Louise Burrows

Jane-Louise Burrows
Director, Solicitor & Mediator

I am a family mediator and family solicitor with over 30 years of experience.

I specialise in helping individuals to achieve their preferred outcome for the division of their finances after divorce or separation, often involving multiple properties, savings, pensions, investment portfolios, inherited wealth and disputes over the ring-fencing of assets.

As my family law career has progressed, I have become increasingly passionate about supporting couples to reach an agreement. Wherever possible, I hope to reduce the emotional and financial stress of going through a separation or divorce.

I also support couples to resolve family issues via our innovative Together We Part Service. This is aimed at couples who are separating or divorcing and who want to work together to reach a resolution using only one lawyer.

As a dedicated family law solicitor and mediator, I recognise the importance of providing couples with the highest level of legal guidance and professional support during the challenging phases of divorce, post-separation and the resolution of child arrangements and/or financial settlements.

Whether you seek my support as a family law solicitor, family mediator or through our Together We Part Service, you can be assured that I will do my utmost to help you reach a resolution as quickly as possible, to enable you and your family to move forward with your lives.

Many years of experience have taught me that when you are going through a separation or divorce, you are at your most vulnerable and stressed. You need a professional, whether that is a family mediator or solicitor, to guide you through what may appear initially to be insurmountable problems, towards a resolution you and your ex-partner each feel is right for you and your circumstances.

In my role, I am able to explain your options and the processes to reach a resolution with your ex-partner which works for you and your family, as well as helps you achieve your goals.

Mediation is a way to help reduce the cost, delay and additional stress usually associated with formal court proceedings. After listening to what you want to achieve, I will always put forward solutions and options, helping you to move forward with your life in a constructive way.

Sometimes an innovative solution is required to resolve matters and I am experienced in suggesting and exploring options that clients may not have initially thought about.

Sometimes circumstances are so complicated, or attitudes so entrenched, that more formal steps are needed.  I will consider with you if it is possible to resolve matters outside of court in the first instance by utilising Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods, including private Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) and Arbitration, or whether a formal court application is necessary. Whichever option is right for your circumstances, I have experience in gaining the best possible outcomes for my clients.

“It is never easy to deal with a divorce, as I am sure some of you know. Especially so when your ex-wife is not returning your calls, not telling you where she is living, and you are the one paying for it. My mood was one of frustration. Then I met Jane and the team at Fullers and, after my initial assessment, I was fortunate enough to realise I was in safe hands. Fullers were efficient, friendly and understood what I was going through. I am now a much happier divorcee who would recommend Fullers to any of you who are struggling to find the answers.”

“I used Fullers for around 18 months due to the complicated and protracted nature of my situation. Everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Any questions I had were answered and they were always available to assist and guide me through. They were realistic and honest with me throughout and worked hard for me so I felt well supported. Although I didn't get the result I hoped for this was purely circumstantial and should I need a solicitor again I would certainly use Fullers. I would also recommend them should any of my family or friends need legal advice or assistance.”

“Having continually put off seeking legal advice regarding matrimonial matters I finally contacted Fullers. During the free 20 minute consultation I was offered advice on the best course of action to follow. Details were taken to ensure all information required was sourced prior to my appointment and to maximise my time with the assigned solicitor. During the meeting all questions I had raised were answered sufficiently and legalities explained in a simple manner. I would fully recommend Fullers for anyone going through marital problems.

“When I contacted Fullers Family Law I was not in a good place and was at my lowest point. Fullers were highly recommended to me and I paid for a 1 hour Pay As You Go consultation with a senior solicitor as I required specific advice as to my options, legal position and the best way forward. Everything was explained honestly, clearly and patiently to me, which gave me clarity and put my mind at ease as to where I stood. I have now instructed Fullers to represent me and I feel confident I am in good hands.”

“I contacted Fullers at a very distressing time in my life as I was in a mentally and verbally abusive situation. I felt scared and intimidated. I paid for a Pay As You go appointment to obtain some specific advice. I was so overwhelmed, but the Solicitor explained everything slowly and clearly one step at a time until I felt ready to move forward. It gave me the confidence to take next steps in progressing with a divorce and dealing with my financial situation. I had two solicitors dealing with my matter and both went above and beyond, updating me every step of the way. They phoned me in advance before emailing me anything so I was prepared which helped me manage any anxiety and stress I was feeling. They had a calming way which put me at ease. They both worked as a team and managed my expectations effectively. They were in tune with each other and with what I needed so I could not have asked for more. The whole team at Fullers were brilliant and I would absolutely recommend Fullers to anyone dealing with a family problem. Now matters are completed I am ready to move forward and I feel so much better in myself.”

“I paid to have a block of specific advice with a senior solicitor as I was anxious about my financial and legal position. The solicitor explained things really clearly and was very knowledgeable about my options. Everything was actioned efficiently and politely. I couldn’t fault any part of the service from start to finish. I would recommend Fullers and I would come back again if I needed further advice.”
